About Zoey Eule

My name is Zoey Eule. I'm running for mayor because I firmly believe our city—with its avid activist population and robust labor history—can impact the entire nation. We can set an example, dare I say start a movement, and demonstrate exactly how to right this ship. Together, we can correct the course of our country and hold rogue officials in Washington, as well as ineffectual local policymakers, accountable.

From green energy to housing justice, transparency to accountability, both parties—at the national and local levels—have failed us. The reason is, quite simply, a lack of leadership.

As a cartographer for the Bureau of Land Management, my job was to chart a course through the desert sands. When it comes to navigating your way out of a storm, I have the knowledge and the expertise to guide us through the haboob. As a certified Southwest Firefighter, I learned the value of our forests and the people who protect them. I have the courage and the knowledge necessary to stand up to those who would sell our public lands, or worse, let them burn. And as a lifelong resident of Silver City, I saw the consequences of tiptoeing towards progress.

When The Wellness Coalition shut down and most of our youth lost their jobs, I was one of those affected.

When rising rents closed social spaces long before COVID-19, I felt the squeeze.

When the Airbnb boom triggered waves of evictions, I was among those displaced.

When I returned home after COVID-19 to find 30% rent hikes, I felt the pain firsthand.

I know the cost of inaction, and that’s why I can say without any doubt in my mind that we need a bold vision for the future—one unafraid to step on the toes of Washington’s dictators. I firmly believe that small towns and vulnerable communities across this country can change their fate.

Taking back our town from the corporate speculators and Wall Street profiteers is non-partisan, and it cannot wait until the midterms. No one is coming to save us; we have to navigate ourselves out of this storm. If you let me, I can show you exactly how.
